Coventry Motofest announce partnership with Donington Park for 2016 event

Coventry Motofest is to form an official partnership with Donington Park circuit, which will see the two organisations work together on developing exciting content for this year’s festival as well as promoting motorsport more widely across the Midlands.

The new partnership between Coventry Motofest and Donington Park will see the East Midlands based circuit bring a range of content from their 2016 events calendar and race series to run on the Motofest track  during this year’s festival which runs from June 3 -5.

Donington Park’s 2016 four wheel race calendar includes championship rounds from the British Touring Cars (BTCC), British GT, BRDC F4, the VW Cup, the Mini Challenge and quality club racing.

Motorbikes also share top billing at Donington Park hosting rounds of the World and British Superbike Championships and national championships including Thundersports GB.

By providing racing bikes from this portfolio, Donington will help to bring motorcycle action to the Coventry Motofest for the first time.

Donington Park will also stage a number of special racing events in 2016 including the British Truck Championship, the Donington Rally and Donington Historic Festival.

This new partnership will also see the management teams from Coventry Motofest and Donington Park working together on a range of competitions and promotions offering tickets to some lucky fans, so that they can attend events at the famous East Midlands circuit as well as having the chance to win special prizes during the actual Coventry Motofest weekend itself.

James Noble, Motofest’s Festival Director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Donington Park in developing an exciting programme of content to be drawn from the various race series and events they will host in 2016.

“Coventry Motofest has come a very long way in a short space of time and our partnership with Donington Park circuit, one of the UK’s leading and most iconic of circuits, is a measure of that progress.

“The new partnership will enable us to bring even more excitement to the streets of Coventry and deliver on one of our major aims to open up motorsports to a new and more varied audience.

“It’s exciting times for Coventry Motofest and we look forward in the next few months to confirming the various race series set to appear in June at our event.”

Bob Adams, Donington Park’s Sporting Director, said:  ”James and his team have a fantastic event which we are sure will only grow in 2016 and beyond.

“We share a vision – encouraging new fans and new participants into motorsport, and where better to do it than Coventry, which is the spiritual home of British motor manufacturing.

“All here at Donington are looking forward to working with Coventry Motofest and sharing the excitement of two as well as four wheel motorsport.”

Coventry’s Motofest 2016 is a three-day festival dedicated to the city’s motoring heritage, which this year takes place between Friday June 3 and Sunday June 5.

There will be a range of automotive activities taking place from pop-up racing and demonstration events to static displays and fringe events – an ‘Edinburgh Festival’ for cars, bikes and vehicles.
