Thompson: Donington the next step towards BTCC points.

Bobby Thompson’s maiden weekend in the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch three weeks ago gave the 21 year-old Hornchurch based driver a chance to show his legion of supporters that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.

But the reigning VW Cup Series Champion knows that rounds four, five and six at the 1.99-mile Donington Park circuit this Sunday (April 29th) offers him his best chance yet of scoring a first championship point in Britain's premier domestic racing series.

“Brands was an incredible experience,” says the 2018 BRDC Rising Star. “But I am much more relaxed now that I have a full race weekend under my belt and my focus this weekend is to get into the top 15 and get my first championship point on the board.”

Bobby and his #19 GKR Scaffolding Team HARD with Trade Price Cars squad will once again go head to head with 31 of the best Touring Car drivers in the world but after an encouraging test session at Thruxton last week, Bobby says his VW CC feels good as he returns to the venue where he clinched last year’s VW Cup Series Championship.

“I’ve obviously got a lot of fond memories of Donington Park and I was happy with the car at the media day test session and even more so at Thruxton last week. I know I am still climbing a steep learning curve but I got my first BTCC top 20 at Brands on my first weekend so my first points would be a great result for my second weekend.”

Race fans should keep their eyes peeled for the latest edition of 'The Bobster,' Bobby's very own light hearted Newspaper that will be available for free during the pit lane walkabout and autograph session where fans can also pick up a free can of Rio Soft Drink.

Not only is Bobby the only BTCC driver with his own newspaper, race fans can also visit the Rio twitter feed and guess how many cans of Rio can fit in his crash helmet!! Fans wanting to try their luck can simply visit the link below:
